The Best Nonstick Pan

I have been married for over 30 years, and I can’t tell you the number of nonstick pans I have gone through during that time. A few years ago Ree Drummond, through her blogPioneer Woman, introduced me to the merits of cast iron cooking.

I purchased this pan which I use almost every day. When buying a cast iron skillet do yourself a favor and pick up a cast iron cleaner. It will prove invaluable in keeping your cast iron clean and sanitary.

Personally, I don’t use dishwashing liquid on my cast iron. I simply use hot water and the stainless steel chainmail cast iron cleaner that I referenced above. After rinsing the skillet in hot water, I dry it immediately with paper towels. After drying, I pour about a teaspoon of vegetable oil in the skillet and rub over the inside with a second paper towel. That’s it.

I did purchase the accompanying lid, which I use almost every time I use my pan.

This cast iron skillet has allowed me to get off of the never-ending cycle of replacing my non-stick pans every couple of years.
