As others have said, age 50 is the gift that keeps on giving! One of those “gifts” is hormonal acne. I had heard this but thought since I didn’t have acne as a teenager I was safe from this menace. Not so!
During menopause, some of us get hormonal acne on our face, upper chest or back. (I’m not even kidding.) PanOxyl Foaming Wash has been my remedy. I use in the shower on any areas that are breaking out, and it keeps everything in check so that I don’t have to look like a teenager with wrinkles.
Head over here and pick up a tube or you can find it in your pharmacy by the acne medications. Problem solved – love that!
This is a great one-pot meal. Brown your ground beef and onions, and then throw everything else in. It’s that simple, and your family will love it.
One Pot Taco Skillet (slightly adapted from Iowa Girl Eats)
1 pound ground beef
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1 taco seasoning packet, don’t add water (or homemade)
1/2 cup salsa
1 3/4 cups chicken broth
1 cup brown rice
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Toppings of your choice
Brown ground beef with the chopped onions in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add taco seasoning, salsa, and chicken broth. Bring to a boil.
Add brown rice and then place a lid on top of the skillet and reduce heat to medium-low.
Simmer for 30 minutes or until rice is tender.
Remove from heat and stir in cheddar cheese until melted. Place lid back on the skillet and the sit for 5 minutes before serving.
Add toppings such as sour cream, green onions, and homemade tortilla strips.
I have struggled with frizzy hair for many years and feel like I’ve tried just about everything on the market that has claimed to help my unruly hair. Some brands are better than others, but most that do help contain heavy silicones. I have been using Living Proof’s
frizz shampoo and conditioner since the beginning of the year and have been more than a little impressed with this duo.
Living Proof is a brand that was developed by a group of scientists from MIT. Their
frizz line supposedly contains a Healthy Hair Molecule (OFPMA) that blocks humidity, therefore reducing frizz. The brand claims that this line is the biggest breakthrough in anti-frizz technology in over 30 years.
All I know is the
frizz shampoo and conditioner by Living Proof works better than any that I have used. My hair feels really soft as well, which is a big deal to me because it can feel like a brillo pad! Head over here and pick up a set if you too struggle with frizzy hair. I think you will be very pleased.
I recently saw this quote on Pinterest-
“One doesn’t have to operate with great malice to do great harm. The absence of empathy and understanding are sufficient“. (Charles M. Blow, journalist)
Have you experienced a significant relationship with someone who lacked empathy and made little effort to understand you? This can happen, even with those we should feel deeply loved by; parents, siblings, and even spouses.
What is the wise way to handle this situation, particularly if exiting the relationship isn’t an option? Go on pretending everything is fine or bring it out into the light? How do you have a relationship with someone who cannot make themselves value you to the degree that the very nature of your relationship demands?
It has taken me many years to work through this. My conclusion is that people who struggle with a lack of empathy are usually driven by self-absorption and not by maliciousness. Simply put, you are dealing with a very selfish person, but not one whose mission is to hurt you. The wisest way, as much as is humanly possible, is not to take their emotional neglect personally.
I know. . . A very tall order.
God bless you.
