Conscience

We all have a still small voice inside of us that gives up pause. Pause when we are heading into a situation which we have no business in, pause when we have hurt someone, but we are being prideful and don’t want to apologize and pause when we’re headed down the road that holds no possibility of honoring God or our belief system.

Being Well Traveled

Why we should desire to be well traveled –

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.” – Mark Twain

Kuhn Rikon Epicurean Garlic Press

You may think it insane to pay over $30.00 for a garlic press. This Kuhn Rikon Epicurean Garlic Press is hands down the best garlic press I have ever used. If my memory serves me correctly, I discovered it on one of the PBS cooking shows on Saturday afternoons. I think it was during a product testing of garlic presses on Cook’s Country TV.

Dressing Your Truth

Dressing Your Truth is a personality profiling online course that was developed by Carol Tuttle. This course allowed me to piece together my personality puzzle as I began to understand that what I had labeled as idiosyncrasies were not, they were just traits of my Type 4 personality. That knowledge has been incredibly life-giving to me.

One Pot Cheeseburger Macaroni

My fellas love this “from scratch” version of “old school”Cheeseburger Helper. No canned soups, no ingredients you can’t pronounce and ready from start to finish in about 30 minutes plus you dirty only one skillet. I’ll take that and call it a great recipe any day!

One of my favorite things that I utilize each and every month is a service called Amazon Subscribe and Save. My reasons for using Amazon Subscribe and Save is first the money that I save, and then for the ability to buy things that I can’t find locally.

Intentional Ambiguity

In the culture we live in, where everything is marketed and nothing is quite what it seems, ambiguity is pervasive. There may be a variety of reasons for this; one is definitely for self-protection.

My husband works in the service industry and in the past has been instructed that when dealing with customers who are dissatisfied to communicate concern, be apologetic, but concede (giveaway) as little as possible. You can imagine if you were the customer how frustrating that would be.

Besides being frustrating, intentional ambiguity feels manipulative and deceitful. There are so many verses of scripture to inspire us to live an honorable life, but none better than:

Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise, you will be condemned” (James 5:12).

No ambiguity there folks.

Culina Stainless Over-the-Sink Strainer

This post contains affiliate links, and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

I picked up an over-the-sink strainer identical to this a couple of years ago and it turned out to be one of the best kitchen “gadget” purchases I have ever made. (I own two at this point.)

A pet peeve of mine has always been draining pasta in a traditional colander then hoping that the cooking water doesn’t end up collecting in the sink and seeping up into my pasta!

What is so wonderful about an over-the-sink strainer is that the above mentioned is not possible and one less thing to think about in your busy kitchen. I just throw it into the dishwasher when I’m finished, all clean for next time.

Head on over to Amazon and take a peek at this terrific kitchen helper. I promise you’ll be glad you did.
