Whole Wheat Pancakes

What a fun treat for Valentine’s Day morning! If you can rise a little early you can treat your family to the most delicious and healthy pancakes and oven-cooked bacon.

I love to make this, especially on weekend mornings when I have more time. You can use real buttermilk in the pancake recipe or this recipe for homemade buttermilk using milk and vinegar.

Have you ever tried oven cooked bacon? Easy, perfectly crisp – just make sure you share because it is so yummy you could devour it all by yourself!

Whole Wheat Pancakes


  • 2 cups white whole wheat flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoons salt
  • 2 1/4 cups buttermilk or this recipe
  • 5 tablespoons grapeseed oil
  • 2 eggs


  1. Sift, then whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together.
  2. In a separate bowl mix buttermilk, oil, and eggs.
  3. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in buttermilk mixture. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Heat a little oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat until shimmering.
  5. Pour batter into pan using 1/4 cup measuring cup.
  6. Cook until the edges of the pancake are set, and bubbles on the surface are just beginning to break.
  7. Flip pancakes and cook until the second side is done.
  8. Serve with butter and maple syrup, or other toppings as desired.
